History

The XML Summer School started in 2000, founded by Dr John Chelsom with colleagues from CSW. Delegates stayed at St Edmund Hall (colloquially known as Teddy Hall), and lectures were held at the Randolph Hotel as Teddy Hall didn’t then have appropriate facilities. In subsequent years, the XML Summer School took place at St Anne’s College, and then Wadham College. There was a break in 2008 and we started again in 2009, back at Teddy Hall, which now had appropriate meeting rooms.

John Chelsom, Peter Flynn, and Lauren Wood taught at the first Summer School, and are still teaching.

Unfortunately much of the early history of the Summer School has been lost, but we still have the archives of the most recent years.
